Want to get organized?
Why drop a sterile filing cabinet into your office or living space when you can easily make it beautiful.
You can pick up a basic metal filing cabinet at Goodwill for less than $25.
After you get your filing cabinet home, place it outside on a drop cloth. Clean off any dust or tape residue.
We found that two layers of satin espresso Rust-oleum "Painters' Touch" covered the back, sides, and top nicely.
You can roll out the front of the drawers and call the job complete, or you can add more pizazz to your project.
We used textured wallpaper that we found at Goodwill to dress up the front of the drawers. We cut out pieces in different shapes and sizes and used school glue to adhere it to the filing cabinet.
After the wallpaper was attached, we painted it with the espresso satin until the color was uniform.
Once the paint was dry, we used a penknife in places where the drawer was sticky or difficult.
The finished product didn't look like office furniture at all!
