When Brittney came to Goodwill's Beyond Jobs program, she was ready and willing to work hard.
She was determined to get her GED, and began working towards that goal almost immediately. With the help of Beyond Jobs staff, Brittney was able to focus on this important task.
While attending classes to complete her GED, Brittney also began updating her personal finance skills and job skills. Through the FDIC $ Smart Curriculum offered through Beyond Jobs, Brittney was able to take classes and update her financial knowledge to help improve her family’s income. She continued working hard in our program, building a great resume, making business cards for job searching, and participating in mock interviews to update those skills. Brittney continued to maintain a positive attitude while completing these other goals and focusing on her GED.
Brittney invited the WS Career Coordinator to attend her GED graduation, it was a great night. Right after graduation, we updated her resume to say: “GED : Completed: 2014”. This was a huge moment for Brittney. Almost immediately after graduation, Brittney obtained employment close to her home.
Brittney has worked so hard. She is a great example of knowing that education is a huge key to long term success. Brittney would like to go to college for Dental Assisting. She is so very excited that this option is now available to her.
